Açaí extract guide

What is açaí extract powder?

Açaí extract powder is a concentrated botanical ingredient produced from the fruit of Euterpe oleracea, an Amazonian palm associated with commercial production in Brazil. Depending on the grade, processors may separate and extract selected fruit components, concentrate the liquid and convert it into powder by spray drying or freeze drying. A carrier such as maltodextrin may be used to support drying, flow and handling.

Açaí extract powder is not the same as whole-fruit powder, freeze-dried pulp or Nutrifena Dehydrated Açaí Powder 50%. Extract ratio, fruit part, extraction medium, carrier percentage, color, flavor, dispersibility and assayed constituents can differ materially. Published research has also found substantial variation in anthocyanin concentrations among açaí fruits, processed powders and supplement materials. Buyers should therefore approve the exact ingredient statement, extract ratio, carrier, moisture, particle size, microbiological limits and any composition assay for the selected SKU before scale-up.

Ingredient value

Açaí extract powder benefits

A defined açaí extract grade can provide concentrated botanical character in a dry format, while color, flavor and composition remain dependent on the approved specification and finished formulation.

Concentrated botanical format

Provides an extract powder that can be dosed into beverage, supplement, confectionery and dry-mix systems when the selected grade is suitable.

Characteristic color and profile

Can contribute a deep purple-red appearance and recognizable berry-like, earthy açaí notes; intensity varies with grade, use level, pH and process.

Specification-led development

Allows buyers to define extract ratio, carrier, particle size, dispersibility and composition testing for repeatable product development.

For manufacturers

Benefits of açaí extract powder for formulation

Provides a concentrated botanical powder for beverages, supplements, gummies, confectionery, snacks and dry mixes.

Supports controlled dry blending when the extract is pre-dispersed with a suitable carrier and segregation risk is managed.

Can contribute purple-red color and açaí character without requiring frozen pulp handling in the manufacturing line.

Pairs with cocoa, citric acid, Vitamin C, stevia, maltodextrin and xanthan gum in multi-component formulations.

Allows procurement teams to specify extract ratio, carrier, mesh, moisture, microbiological limits and required assays.

Available to B2B buyers in packaged and quoted commercial quantities. The current minimum order is shown in the pricing section.

Three açaí extract powder pilot formulations

Each example is a 2.2 lb (1kg) pilot dry formulation created for commercial product development. The açaí extract levels are illustrative and must be adjusted for the approved extract ratio, carrier and sensory target. These are starting points, not finished product specifications; validate processing, stability, sensory performance, nutrition, allergens and regulatory compliance before production.

Buyer questions

Açaí extract powder FAQ

Does Nutrifena have a minimum order quantity for açaí extract powder?

Yes. The current minimum order is shown in the pricing section. Grade availability, packaging, freight and lead time are confirmed in the quote.

Is açaí extract powder the same as Dehydrated Açaí Powder 50%?

No. They are separate Nutrifena products. Extract powder may differ in concentration, carrier, processing and use level. Compare the approved ingredient statement and specification for each SKU before substitution.

What does a 4:1 açaí extract ratio mean?

It generally describes the relationship between starting botanical material and finished extract. The 4:1 value displayed here is sample data; request the approved extraction basis and specification before using it in formulation calculations.

Does açaí extract powder provide color and flavor?

It can contribute purple-red color and characteristic açaí notes, but intensity depends on the grade, carrier, use level, pH, process and storage. Bench and shelf-life testing are necessary.

How should açaí extract powder be stored and protected?

Follow the approved SKU instructions. Botanical color and composition may be affected by heat, oxygen, light and moisture, so packaging and finished-product stability should be validated for the intended shelf life.

Can açaí extract powder be used in beverages and gummies?

It can be developed for these categories when the selected grade is suitable. Validate dispersibility, pH, color, sedimentation or set, flavor, serving level and regulatory requirements.

Can I request an extract ratio, carrier statement and Certificate of Analysis?

Yes. Include the application, desired extract profile, package size, quantity and destination so the team can identify the relevant SKU and available documents.

Botanical composition and claims note: Peer-reviewed research reports meaningful variation in anthocyanin concentrations across açaí fruit, processed powders and supplement materials. Review the PubMed-indexed açaí standardization study and the FDA food-label health-claims guidance alongside the approved Nutrifena SKU specification and lot documents before making composition statements, claims or purchasing decisions.
